On the 25th of January, Old Tollinton on Mall Road turned into a buzzing little hub of colour, craft, and community as Lahore Ka Ravi hosted a kite-making workshop that felt equal parts nostalgic and joyful. With Basant season just around the corner in February, the timing couldn’t have been better. For three lovely hours, people of all ages came together for one simple reason: the shared love of kites.

Led by master instructors Javed Bhatti and Saleem Ullah, participants were introduced to the traditional art of kite making—from understanding different types of kites to learning how they’re built, balanced, and flown. Everyone was given their own materials, guided step by step, and taught how to fly kites safely (a big win). The vibe? Fun, interactive, hands-on, and genuinely wholesome. There was laughter, curiosity, a little trial and error, and a lot of quiet pride as kites slowly took shape.

The workshop is part of Lahore Ka Ravi, the brainchild of Ghazi Taimoor, an educator and storyteller who has been reimagining Lahore as a living classroom. Through immersive storytelling and educational experiences – especially their much-loved Lahore city walks that have become a staple of domestic tourism – Lahore Ka Ravi brings people closer to the city’s cultural heartbeat. This kite-making workshop did exactly that…slowing everyone down, reconnecting them to tradition, and reminding us that sometimes, the best way to learn a city is to make something with your hands and look up at the sky together.
From Lahore With Love was proud to join hands with Lahore Ka Ravi as a media partner for its kite-making workshop this month.
